I believe in a God that created heaven and earth and that He is ultimately in charge of everything and deserves all praise and credit for everything good or praiseworthy.
That being said:
I believe that we are responsible for our own thoughts and actions and should be willing to face the consequences of those thoughts and actions.
I believe that people are responsible for themselves! If you are having trouble making it or fall upon hard times you should turn first to your immediate family, then to your extended family then to your church and then, ONLY after all other avenues are exhausted, to your government. All assistance from the government should be done on a local basis. I believe that government assistance should be minimal and very temporary. The government does, on the other hand, have the responsibility to take care of those people in our society who, through no fault of their own, cannot take care of themselves. Those that are able bodied have no claim to public funds.
I believe families are the most important unit on the face of the earth. A family as I see it is A man and A woman who have made a commitment and taken marriage vows before God and witnesses and entered into a contract called marriage. If children are raised in a good God-fearing family and have those values and standards instilled in them while young there is a much greater chance that those children will grow to be well-adjusted, mature and honorable adults. I believe this can best be accomplished by having a man as a father who is will to take responsibility for his families spiritual, mental and monetary needs and a woman who is willing to forsake her own wants for the children's needs and be a full-time mother.
My Ideas on Tax Reform:
REPEAL THE 16th AMENDMENT TO THE US CONSTITUTION!
Instate a 15% Federal Sales Tax or 15% Federal Flat Tax with a deduction for the first $20,000 of household income.
Implement a cap on that percentage via Constitutional amendment along with wording to remove all current tax legsilation and loopholes. NO DEDUCTIONS ALLOWED! under the new plan.
Take all of the IRS agents that would be put out of work and put them to work auditing the welfare and imigration services.
Remove ALL current Tax legislation.
Implement a Line Item Veto for the President to remove pork from legislation.
My Ideas on Campaign Finance Reform:
No soft money! Period.
Unlimited individual contributions. Corporate contributions are not allowed.
All contributions must be posted on a publicly available web site within 24 hours of receipt. (If some rich guy decides to "buy" a candidate we will know it. If our opinion agrees with his we vote for him, if not we don't. Very simple, very easy.)
All contestants for political position must declare one or more charities of their choice. (This will give the voters, at least the ones that pay attention, a glimpse into the values of the candidate.)
All monies left over at the end of a campaign will be donated to the previously selected charities. Thus removing the collection of large war chests. No money may be carried over after a campaign ends.
Money donated to one campaign may not be donated to another campaign. (If they would have wanted to donate to the other persons campaign they would have.)
